James V. Gresham, Founder, Chairman & CEO – Jim Gresham has a vast career in the Excess and Surplus Lines insurance industry that spans 45 years. His career has included company underwriting, marketing, and Property & Casualty brokerage. For the past 29 years he has guided Gresham & Associates from a startup company to one that has eleven branches with over $350 million in annual premium.
In addition to being CEO of the company, he provides direct supervision over branches in West Palm Beach, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Georgia. Jim holds a license for Georgia Property & Casualty as well as a Georgia Surplus Lines License.
Jim and his wife Gail live in Stockbridge, GA and have one son and three grandchildren.
George L. Abernathy, President –
Mr. Abernathy was named President of Gresham & Associates, Inc. in 1993 after twenty years with The Home Insurance Company. As The Home’s Senior Vice President, he established their southeastern region to include twelve states and over $125,000,000 in premium volume of major lines and captive business.
George oversees Gresham’s Alabama, Louisiana, Indiana, Tennessee, Maine and Rhode Island offices, the company’s accounting operations, and has remained an active Casualty Broker for the firm. His leadership has been instrumental in the growth of Gresham & Associates from three branches to eleven, and in establishing the company as one of the leading independent wholesalers in the country.
Mr. Abernathy holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Business Administration from Vanderbilt University, and maintains a Georgia Property & Casualty Agent’s license. George resides in Jonesboro, GA with his wife Kimberly and daughter Kristin.

Tony Gresham, Senior Vice President - Tony joined the family business in 1986 after completing his degree in Risk Management/Insurance from Florida State University. Soon after, he received his CPCU and ASLI (Associate in Surplus Line Insurance) designations while developing the relationships and skills needed to assume a leadership role in the company.
In addition to providing casualty brokerage expertise, Tony oversees various operations of the company including the Marketing, MIS, Underwriting and Claims areas as well as the Missouri Branch. He is an active member of numerous associations including NAPSLO and AAMGA, and serves on the advisory board of Scottsdale Insurance Company.
Tony lives in Griffin, Georgia with his three children.
